Intestacy

If you do not make a Will you are said to be intestate.

In these circumstances, the law decides how your estate is distributed, and this may go to people you may not wish to benefit. In certain circumstances your money and property can go to the state.

Cohabitees and unmarried couples living together are at particular risk if there is no Will as their rights are extremely limited.

Often not making a Will can cause much distress and insecurity for those you leave behind in the event of death.
