Deirdré specialises in police law, regulatory offences and serious fraud. Her main client is the Police Superintendents Association of England and Wales; she represents all officers of Superintendent and Chief Superintendent rank through out England and Wales. Advising on internal discipline, police misconduct investigations, representation at interview and hearings. Deirdré also acts and advises officers investigated for criminal offences, from initial investigation to trial. She has extensive experience in acting for officers at coroner’s inquests where there has been a death in custody or at the hands of the state through armed response or other means.
Deirdré also acts for G4S Securicor representing their staff association members in criminal proceedings and at coroner’s inquests when there has been a death in custody.
Deirdré acted for Superintendent Ali Dizaei representing him along with one of the partners at the firm, Ian Lewis, throughout the criminal and disciplinary investigation and representing him at his crown court trial in 2003 where he was found not guilty of the charges laid against him.
Deirdré has acted for officers involved in the Deepcut investigations, advising and assisting them through the investigations that have been conducted by Surrey police, Thames Valley Police and the Independent Police Complaints Commission. She represented a retired officer at the Inquests into the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Al Fayed.
Most recently she successfully represented a Superintendent charged with misconduct in a public office. Disciplinary proceedings although brought were subsequently dropped and the suspended officer returned to his force. He continues to serve as a Superintendent in the same force. In a separate case she successfully represented a Chief Superintendent charged with fraud and perverting the course of justice. She is currently representing a Retired Officer in a 15 Defendant Conspiracy to Pervert the Course of Justice . The matter is due for trial in 2011 before Mr. Justice Sweeney. The case relates to the murder of prostitute, Lynette White in February 1988 and the subsequent miscarriage of justice (' the Cardiff 3' ).
Through her work she deals with investigations that are conducted by both internal and external forces and those that are being supervised or managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
