Professional Profile
Brian is a non-lawyer Partner, and has been a senior management executive within the legal profession for nearly 20 years.
During his legal career Brian has been involved in all aspects of running law firms, including HR, facilities, business planning, marketing, project management, finance, IT and risk and compliance, etc. He has also managed a project involving the provision of legal services within the retail industry.
As an operational HR practitioner Brian works closely with the firm's employment team and advises clients on how to effectively implement the requirements of employment law into operational business environments; he is also able to advise clients on various regulatory and compliance issues that overlap into the HR parts of a business. Brian has trained some of the largest businesses in the North and is considered a leader in his field. He is available for advice and training.
Brian is part of the firm’s regulatory team and represents firms and professionals facing action by regulators; he is also a speaker for a number of law societies and professional services groups around the country presenting seminars on topics such as:
- Solicitors' Code of Conduct and Outcomes Focused Regulation
- Referral Arrangements
- Law Firm Management and Alternative Business Structures
- Risk and Reputation Management
- Business Continuity Management
- Money Laundering
Brian also acts as a consultant to law firms and claims management companies on their referral arrangements and regulatory & compliance issues.
Brian was recently voted on to the Council of Manchester Law Society, the first non-lawyer in the country to be appointed to such a position, and is now the Chairman of the newly formed Regulatory Affairs Committee. Fran Eccles- Bech, executive director of Manchester Law Society, said:

Prior to joining the legal profession Brian served in the Royal Air Force for 12 years; he spent most of his career working within different NATO headquarters and the RAF recruitment service.
